What "unsafe weather" actually means

The wettest months, and how to plan around them

Maui's wet season runs November through March. Even in those months the leeward luau coasts stay dry by any reasonable standard, but showers are more frequent and the winter storm systems that produce a real cancellation risk only appear in this window.

Three things worth doing if you are travelling between November and March:

Read the cancellation terms before you pay, not after. They differ more between venues than the prices do.
Book earlier, not later. Winter is peak season on Maui and the booking windows run 6 to 10 weeks. Holding out for a clear forecast means competing for the seats nobody wanted.
Do not rebook on a forecast. A five-day Maui rain forecast tells you very little about one leeward lawn at 5:30 PM. Cancelling into a strict window to chase a sunnier day usually costs money and gets you a worse seat.
